Uniting the World Through the Power of Prayer

He is the God who makes me strong, who makes my pathway safe. He makes me sure-footed as a deer; he keeps me safe on the mountains. He trains me for battle, so that I can use the strongest bow. O Lord, you protect me and save me; your care has made me

Missionaries needed in Anchorage, Alaska

Dedicated to: Alaskan Natives

Anchorage is the largest and fastest growing Native village in Alaska. There are over 40,000 now living here. We are praying for Christian workers to move here, get a job, and work at our Church. Please pray with us someone will come here to help us reach the Natives in Anchorage.

Lord we white people have done vicious things to our Native American brothers and sisters.

We hava a LARGE country with lots of space. We chose to shove them off - repeatedly. We lied to them repeatedly when we broke treaties, even tho we claimed to have the light (Jesus).

Native Americans BLESSED the early pilgrims. One Native American returned the blessing given him by a white person who told him about YOU (Squanto) He came in to aid the new Pilgrims.

They apparently had dinner together.

We could have WORKED with Native Americans and negotiated. This is not to say they were without sin, as all human beings sin.

But it is to acknowledge that we (the white people) LOST the ground we gained when the early Pilgrims made peace with the Native Americans.

What greater blessings would have been poured out on this country (including ALASKA) had we (white people) worked to build bridges to them---not exterminate them from the earth.

Possibly we could have figured out ways to share this HUGE country and both sides would have been blessed.

Possibly the Native Americans would have then celebrated the coming of the white people who came to respect, serve...and be neighbors, not devourers.

So we pray for Alaska, for people who will serve the people, and who will not let a HINT of "supposed superiority" come through. If they (any workers coming in) need to clean toilets, and sweep to get a hearing so be it.

Lord, we thank you for the variety of the human race. You have made us in all sorts of stunning shades - with all sorts of hair and eye combinations - and with all sorts of different GIFTS.

We pray YOU can call tothe Native Americans through those traditions and beliefs which hint at YOUR presence. We pray they can redefine those traditions and beliefs which damage them and keep them in any oppression.

Lord I thank YOU for how YOU sent persons (even some who came in as captured slaves) to tell about YOU to my ancestors, the Vikings. As the ancient prayer said "LORD deliver us from the FURY of the Norseman (viking)."

I pray for the despair many Native Americans feel. It might be in part due to bad personal choices, in part to maybe a local economy that might not be good, and in part to past damage white people might have done to them.

I pray you lift their spirits and help them hear YOU calling to them.

Father, Roger follows your guidance in asking that you send workers for the harvest. We join in asking that those who know the good news and can share it will come and proclaim it to the native americans. May they be strong and of good health. May they be ready to endure any hardships encountered. May they build relationships that have you as the foundation. Your creation testifies of you. May they appreciate your creativity and grandeur as the look about them. Help them to let go of traditions that keep them from you, but to celebrate the ones that point to you as the only magnificent God. May jobs, homes, and finances be sorted out so that people will answer your call. In Jesus Name, Amen
