Hi,
I don't know if he'll listen, but there is a book that we recommend that explains the physiological reasons why SOME (not all) people have an addiction to alcohol and carbs (sugar, breads, chips, etc.). It's called the "Sugar Addicts Total Recovery Program".

We've used this material for addicts in our ministry, in addition to applying biblical principles to release strongholds, and, to date, every person who did the program has remained off of alcohol.

Father God, We have learned, in general, addictions have a root in a lack of nurturing and a need to be loved and hope deferred...but we've also found that when there is a physiological reason, that the body is wired wrong, it, too can drive someone to drink. Much like refusing to let someone who is nearsided wear glasses would be cruel, so, too, is forcing someone who has a low Betaendorphin level to white knuckle their addictions without preparing their bodies to handle the loss of the thing that makes them feel better. In those cases, Lord, we need to pray not only against the strongholds, but there is a physical healing that needs to be prayed about also.

To that end, Lord God, we lift up James and pray that you touch his body, mind, soul, spirit and emotions and deliver him from the strongholds that bind him. Open the eyes of his heart to You plan for him, for his welfare. Lord, and be with Khrystyne in being his friend and show her, too, how to set healthy boundaries. Stop them from "feeding" off of each other and put them in a place where they can be able to mutually help each other grow closer to Jesus Christ.
In Jesus' name we pray,

Dear Heavenly Father, Almighty Master God, You are Jehovah, Alpha and Omega. All things are Spoken into Existence By You and You Alone, There Is None Higher. Awesome God, we Pray that You Would Break any curse that has ever been Spoken over us, any negative, evil word that has ever come against us right now, in Jesus Christ Perfect and Glorious Name, Lord, we also Pray that You Will Deliver us from the enemy's strongholds and Divinely Protect us each day as we Walk in YOUR truth. Dear God, As we place You at the VERY CENTER of our lives, We ask that You will Speak Words of Healing, Truth, Courage and Strength unto our Hearts and Minds, that we may Live Lives that are Truly Pleasing to You and in line with with YOUR PERFECT WILL. Father I come before you in Jesus name and pray for James that he will ask you to be Lord of his life in Jesus name and that James will be delivered of alcohol,glutteny,foul speach and the bondage of witchcraft over his mind,will and emotions in Jesus name.Also Father that he will restore his friendships that he has had with others in Jesus name amen.
